It's no secret that our family eats a LOT of chicken. We "wing it", broil it, bake it, crockpot it, bbq it and chop it for salads! I'm actually surprised my kids don't "cluck"!
I met the Chicken Farmers of Canada when I attend the ShesConnected Conference and since then, we have even had the pleasure of working together! I've been helping them to get the word out about this amazing campaign benefitting the Food Banks of Canada.
Every year leading up to Canada Day, the Chicken Farmers of Canada create a new contest to engage the MPs as well as spread the word about Chicken. This year's national campaign “Everyone Wins With Chicken”, is not only a campaign about chicken, but about giving back to Canadians! All Canadians are encouraged to contact their local MP and ask them to participate by submitting their favorite chicken sandwich recipe (so easy- mine would be this amazing Panini from Chicken.ca but with some Buffalo sauce for a kick!)
The Prizes help those in need...
The top three MP submitted recipes will receive donations to the Food Bank in their riding ($10,000 for 1st, $5000 for 2nd and $2000 for 3rd). All recipes will also be online and downloadable for all MPs to share with their constituents. In addition to that, the winning recipe will be served to over 10,000 people during the 20th Annual Great Canadian Chicken BBQ on July 1st in Ottawa.
Get on the internet and tweet or email your MP asking them to submit their favorite chicken sandwich recipe. For example, tweet them this: "Hey @MPxxx, our local Food Bank needs $10,000. Pls submit ur chicken sandwich recipe. http://bit.ly/HU9Zwu #WinWithChicken". MPs can enter here. It's that easy!
Don't know your MP's name? Yup, this was me (I hate to admit it)! There is even a search tool to find the email address and twitter handle of your MP. My MP is NOT on Twitter, so I've written an email to him instead! I'm eager to hear his reply.
